Uttarbasti is a specialized Panchakarma procedure where sterile, medicated oil or ghee is gently administered into the uterus or vaginal canal through the vaginal route, under strict hygienic and clinical conditions. 🌸 Uttarbasti Procedure
1. Purvakarma (Pre-procedure)
- Patient assessment and counselling
- Local Abhyanga (oil massage) around lower abdomen and back
- Mild Swedana (steam) if needed
- Bladder emptied before procedure
- Procedure done under aseptic, hygienic conditions
2. Pradhankarma (Main Procedure):
- Patient lies in supine position with legs folded
- Sterile, lukewarm medicated oil/ghee instilled into uterus or vaginal canal using a sterile syringe or catheter
- Dose: 2–5 ml (as per condition)
- Patient rests 10–15 minutes post-instillation
3. Paschatkarma (Post-procedure):
- Short rest after procedure
- Light diet, avoid cold, exertion, or intercourse for 1–2 days
- No heavy work or travel
- Repeat sessions: 3–7 sittings as advised
